Keno
Keno is played by placing a wager on a single number or a group of numbers 1-80.
Rules:
The rules are fairly simple. The house
will pick, at random, 20 balls from the 80 and display the balls picked on a "Keno Board" (a board with the numbers
from 1 - 80).
To place bets, a Keno Crayon is used to
fill out a ticket. That ticket is taken to a ticket writer who enters your bet into the computer, takes the amount
you wish to wager, and provides you with an office keno ticket stating the number(s) that you chose, the amount of
the bet placed, as well as the time and date.
Most casinos place a restriction on the
amount of numbers, which can be chosen, on a single bet. Most casinos lay down rules regarding the amount of
numbers they are willing to cover on any single bet. A maximum of 10 is a standard by which many casinos go by.
However, there are some casinos that have special betting options where they will cover a great amount of numbers,
at a higher minimum bet.
Betting options varies from casino to
casino. Bets can be as low as 5 cents, however some casinos have higher minimum bets.
Odds:
Keno is a very popular game because it has
the potential of offering a very large payoff for a relatively small wager. In some casinos, it is possible to
place a $1 bet on 10 numbers and receive a payoff of $20,000 if all 10 numbers were to be drawn.
In spite of this large payoff, there are
over 1 trillion different combinations in which to pick 10 numbers from a total of 80 and the odds of picking 10 of
the 20 numbers pulled are over 1 to 8 million. So in essence, the more numbers you pick the harder it is for you to
win.
The most popular types of Keno are the 6-,
7- and 8-spot tickets because the payoff for selecting 6 numbers on any one of these tickets is relatively high
compared to the $1 bet placed. The odds of getting 8 numbers out of 8 numbers pulled are higher than picking 10
numbers out of 10 pulled.
